Why do you need laws that apply to all member states of the EU ?

Again, students should first write down their ideas and discuss them,
then check out three suggested reasons – see if their ideas match?  have they found other reasons?

• So that people can move easily from one country to another
• So that companies can compete on equal terms across the EU
• To help co-operation on matters that cross national boundaries, .... such as the environment, security, international crime
