Valletta, the smallest capital of the European Union, is a World heritage site and Malta's major commercial and financial centre. The city's historic streets were planned with defence in mind. Some of the streets fall steeply as you get closer to the tip of the peninsula. The steps in some of the streets do not conform to normal dimensions since they were constructed to allow knights to climb in heavy armour. |
