Grenfell Tower

At approximately 0100 on June 14, 2017 a fire broke out on the fourth floor of a tall block of appartments in West London called Grenfell Tower. Although the fire services arrived soon after, the fire rapidly engulfed virtually the entire building and 72 people lost their lives.  A public enquiry is in progress to discover the reasons for the rapid spread of the fire and to assess the response of the emergency services and local authority who owned the building.

One year on, of the 203 families made homeless, 82 have moved into permanent accommodation, 52 are living in high quality interim homes, 69 families are still living in hotels and hostels.

Why do you think it is taking so long to find permanent accommodation for those made homeless by the fire?
